Salut and welcome!

My name is Ahoefa, and I’m a mother of two, traveler, photographer, foodie, and the creator of Raised Abroad.

Ever since I was born in a small country on the west coast of Africa, I have always been travel-obsessed. Seeing new places and experiencing new cultures was always so important to me. So, when I became a mom a few years ago, I knew I wanted to spend my life sharing my wanderlust with my little ones. I created Raised Abroad with a simple goal in mind; to inspire, motivate, and support other parents looking for ways to travel around the world with their children. As a stay-at-home educator who takes so much inspiration from the Montessori philosophy, I love to make sure my children have opportunities to learn on the road and to experience as many hands-on learning opportunities as possible.

You see, I always loved solo travel, so it was no question that when I had my children that I wanted to continue traveling and foster a love of travel within them as they grew up. Raised Abroad is a lifestyle blog that sets out to answer the question, “How do you do it?” I believe traveling with your kids doesn’t have to be complicated or stressful. It’s easier than you think to travel with your children; just start small! You don’t have to book that trip around the world! Instead, you can take a day trip to your nearby botanical garden or watch your kids explore your nearby museum! Raised Abroad is full of family-friendly itineraries and travel inspiration for your family!

I want other parents to know that it is possible and incredibly rewarding to travel as a family. Having kids does not mean giving up the ability to explore the world; in fact, it only makes it better! Take a look around the blog, and you’ll find a wealth of information on how best to work travel into your family’s lifestyle, family-friendly activities, tips and tricks, and more!

A little more about me…

When I’m not planning a new trip, traveling with my kids, or posting my latest blog, you can find me in our kitchen cooking or spending days lounging at the beach. We are a military family currently based in Japan, which means you’ll find many recent posts dedicated to our adventures here.

Welcome to Raised Abroad. Come on an adventure with us!
